Ghenet2024
Branding

An imagined rebrand of the Brooklyn-based Ethiopian restaurant Ghenet. The project explores how traditional Ethiopian culture, from textiles and ceremonial attire to the expressive qualities of Ge’ez letterforms, can inform a modern visual identity. The resulting system includes a custom wordmark, a print advertising series, and a responsive online menu.

The custom wordmark draws directly from the diamond motifs found in Ethiopian textiles, abstracting their geometric repetition into a letterform structure that feels both traditional and contemporary. The color palette references the Ethiopian flag with desaturated tones to achieve a refined, modern aesthetic that bridges cultural heritage with current design sensibilities.
